There was this neat action by fallout75 for Photoshop. It made your photos look aged. But alas, I’m a Linux user and haven’t had the inclination to just buy Photoshop and mess with wine, when Gimp is freely available. But I wanted that action… So it came to pass that I wrote a Gimp script. I had never used the Gimps functional scripting language, Scheme, before and had had only a brief encounter with functional languages in school… Alas, life has shown me that programming is programming, you need documentation, some samples , syntax guide and a plan and it can be done. I admit, it took me a while to put it together working more like solving a puzzle than writing code, but I did it. I also wrote a second script to create LOMO effect. There are probably more configurable options out there… but I like it.

NOTE: These actions are for Gimp 2.4(tested on RC-s and GIMP2.3, the dev version of 2.4), vintage is confirmed not to work in 2.2, rumors say that Lomo does.
Put the scripts into your scripts folder and run Gimp. They appear under “Filters->Photo Effects”. Have Fun .
